Description Liberon Black Polish is a black-stained, high quality French Polish that is suitable for use in ebonising wood. It is suitable for new wood and restoration work on ebonized antique furniture. It produces an opaque, jet black finish and is made using Shellac. Liberon Black Polish can be applied with a French Polishing Brush or with a rubber in accordance with traditional French Polishing techniques. It helps to stop the grain of the wood showing through to offer a smooth black finish. French Polishes are best applied in a warm, clean, dry, dust-free environment. Dust can contaminate the finish. 2. Before applying the Black Polish, ensure there are no previous finishes. If the previous finish is present please see our guide on stripping wood here. The use of Liberon fine wood stripper along with Course Steel Wool is ideal for this. 3. You can Stain the wood using Ebony Liberon Palette Wood Dye. You can also add Black Liberon Water Based Concentrate Dye to the stain to make a very dark colour. Apply the stain using a Lint Free Cloth for a smooth finish. It is recommended to get the wood as dark as possible before applying the black french polish. 4. Once the stain is dry, Liberon Black Polish can be applied with a French Polishing Brush or with a rubber. 5. Several coats of the Black Polish should be applied (minimum of three coats recommended) to achieve a satisfactory finish. 6. For best results always finish with a good quality Wax as this will further enhance the finish and add a layer of protection to your furniture.
