Haruki Murakami (2005) ‘Kafka on the Shore‘, US first edition, first printing, published by Knopf. Signed and inscribed by the author on the second front free endpaper: “to Mara, my best wishes, in Boston, haruki [plus signature in Japanese kanji] 3/12/06”. Provenance: signed and inscribed to the daughter of an American well known literary critic who had lunch with Murakami that day in Boston. Condition: near fine with light shelf wear only and light edge wear to the dust jacket. Kafka on the Shore won the 2006 World Fantasy Award. As usual, Murakami blends literature and fantasy elements into a dreamlike magic realism worthy of praise. Kafka on the Shore is one of his best novels.
